Being Uncomfortable!
2017 , before it ends , has been one eventful year , quite a journey by itself , here goes a gist of the journey !
From established to the New : the year began with an assignment in a New setup , this after a decent run with a very good Indian setup , left all established threads and had moved on , smaller setup , where work had to be largely done by everyone , and not a selected few :) ! , worked at fixing the positioning dilemma , business started trickling in , fixed some tech aspects , made VC pitches myself , enjoyed the stint as along with the team we got things moving ! ...
From something to Nothing :: .... then sudden closure of another assignment happened which was under discussion for almost 6 months , and thus was headed to a new assignment outside the country , so left the new setup and was headed to foreign shores , almost had packed up and was ready to fly , suddenly a very unprofessional mail came saying no role due to " restructuring", leaving me with No assignment , thus moved from Something to Nothing in one shot !!! fought hard against the nonsense , still fighting
Freelancing and Searching :: thanks to a few good friends , kept myself busy with client visits and had a chance to work as a freelancer consultant , set up a small temp office for this , did freelance work as a consultant and kept searching for another assignment .
Finally with gods grace , landed with an assignment and glad to have restarted .
thus 2017 although not by design , thought me a lot of lessons , here are some of the key ones
--there are many opportunities out there , some unique and unbelievable ones , so catching them is matter of intent , right timing , and with a plan , for example there are many Indian brands small now, who want help on execution , exports , and the works
--most of your well wishers that you think of reaching out are too busy with their own problems , or daily chores , difficult to get mind share , the guys who really ventured to really help me where people who had gone through the same situation in the past , I promise to HELP anyone known who needs help for sure
---being uncomfortable , outside of your comfort zone , are all good terms to use , its not easy facing the biggest and most supportive unit , the family , rest can be managed .
thus 2017 , thought me how to be uncomfortable , how to handle it in some ways , how to handle newer smaller setups, how different these setups are from big established setups , got shocks without any mccb's :) , not losing hope ( not easy ) , praying to god( which I always did ) , the need to do more good to others ....strengthening me further , and of course Not to take anything for granted as far as possible in the future !
