Rural Mindsets not Rural Markets !

firstly we read somewhere that its "rural mindsets that one should address not rural markets",which is quite profound a statement to start with .

After travelling to a lot of rural markets ,here is our version of whats happening around the mindset of rural consumers

Farming is getting Automated ::Markets are littered with tractors and heavy duty harvestors ,with heavy dependence on agriculture still ,we must be getting better productivity from all this ,which must be adding to spending power .

Development in some pockets ,large pockets remain isolated still from the world ,wherever there is change ,the need to stay connected using mobile ,dth etc is a need that's prevalent already as a want .However banking infrastructure is very weak still and is an opportunity .

Urban products will not always fit into the rural domain ,just by using the say, chotta pack route ,there are products designed for rural which work ,Godrej chotakul, nokia asha ,the old torch phone of nokia,
are all great examples .

Internet ,growing fascination among youth of rural markets to stay connected ,with greater smartphone penteration backed with 3g if not 4g network availability ,there will be no dearth of eccomerce play here .

The great rural hintherland of India always has held great potential ,we feel, getting out of airconditoned comforts and into these markets and understanding the rural mindsets will make a big big difference in cracking this domain for your business .

I really liked this article. To understand rural customers buying behaviours is challenging and interesting because of cultural differences, demographic differences , seasonal differences etc. I could see the telecom prisiom through which these thoughts came from ,along with vast experience.

Completely in sync with the thoughts. Definitely the advancement of technology has reached & will further push advancement. Though the better use of technology is still to reach. Content which is provided is mostly entertainment related & the youth in rural isn't aware of using technology for education, jobs, opportunities etc. Better content will result in faster growth & the organizations utilizing this will create more stickiness & value.
